Hi ,
At the end of last summer I spent some time reflecting on what I liked and what I'd do differently this summer. Where I live in Canada summer is about 3 months long, tops, so we tend to go hard! I
remember that I wanted to do more camping (big x on that one) and I also wanted to take less time off because I lost too much work momentum. Well, here I am, sitting outside at my parents house, dog at my feet, my sister working across from me, wind chimes chiming, and my mom looking after my daughter.
In theory, this is a
lovely way to work. It's what digital nomads dream about, isn't it? In reality, I don't work well in other places with any distractions. I know this about myself, and yet I have to re-learn it constantly. What I'm learning this summer is that trying to work a day here and there is much less useful than taking dedicated time off, then going back to work when I'm fully recharged and in an optimal environment.
So as a change of pace, this permission slip is for me today. Permission to work less than I had planned this summer and to enjoy the days more intuitively. But of course, permission for you to do the same. What is your ideal work schedule? How do you do your best work? What makes time off refreshing and inspiring for you?
The good news is, I can thank past Stephanie for preparing an article-alternative for you today.
A few weeks ago, my incredible friend and colleague Janelle Holden interviewed me on her podcast From Montana to Portugal. Janelle and I met years ago when we were both working for the same coaching company - her as a sales maven and me as a business coach. We've kept in touch ever since and she's one of my biggest supporters. Janelle is always on interesting adventures, and now we
have the privilege of following along her journey as she makes the leap moving from...you guessed it...Montana to Portugal!
In the interview we covered all sorts of fun things including my adventures in Australia and what it's like to live in Quebec, Canada as an English-speaker. And of course we talk about how all of this
relates to business, but not in the ways you might think.
You can follow and support Janelle through her articles on Substack, or her podcast anywhere you listen
to podcasts.

Enjoy this diversion and getting to know me behind-the-scenes a little better.
Have a lovely day,
