Hi ,
Happy New Year! (Are you sick of hearing that yet??)
I embraced every minute of my Christmas holiday, and still it didn't feel like enough. It has really made me
even more motivated to work towards a 3-day work week because there is still so much I wish I had time to do, like go skating and cross-country skiing, or keep getting better at watercolour painting.
To do that, my focus and planning each week needs to be TIGHT. On my workdays, I need to know what I need to do, clear any obstacles, and get it
done. Easy to say...harder to do.
And I hear from many of you that the weeks that go well are the weeks that are planned realistically, with clear priorities and with tasks that are broken down into doable chunks.
So I decided to help.
For the next 6 weeks I'm doing an experiment...Every Monday I'll be on Zoom, helping business owners plan their weeks. I'll be there to help look at calendars, break down tasks, and set priorities. All the things we know we need to do, but still struggle to sit down and actually
do.
I'm calling them the "Forward Focus Hour"
Here's how it works:
- Each Monday at
2pm ET starting Jan 20, you come to the zoom call ready to plan out your week
- If you don't need help and just need accountability...great! You and any others can go to a breakout room and get the work done on your own
- If you want to talk through your schedule together, stay in the main zoom room and I'll be there to help you and
whoever else wants help
My hypothesis is that building the habit of planning on Monday will be incredibly helpful, and having someone to help you through the tricky parts will make the habit stick. Let's find out if I'm right!
If it's helpful and people
love it, I'll keep doing it. If not, we'll revise and see where we go from there.
The Forward Focus Hour is available to members of The Happy Squirrel Collective (it's only $40/month), so head over here to become a member. If you use the code ACORNS you'll get $15 off your first month.
(I'm in the middle of editing the page and I messed up some of the text, and don't know how to unpublish my changes, so forgive me if it looks a little weird when you visit!)
And since you'll be a member of The Happy Squirrel Collective, you'll also get all the other perks that are included! An online membership,
monthly calls on different topics (January's is "Time Blindness"), and you can come to our co-working calls.
Sound like fun? Or at least like it could help?
Let's experiment together.
See you there!
